First National Vice Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chief Sofo Awudu Azorka, has issued a stern warning to the Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, cautioning him against any attempts to undermine the ongoing Akwatia by-election.
This follows allegations that Afenyo-Markin, who is also the Effutu MP, stormed the NDC’s constituency office and ripped off posters belonging to Lawyer Bernard Bediako.
That incident is said to have heightened tensions in the area, sparking heated confrontations between Afenyo-Markin’s team and NDC supporters.
Enraged by the Minority Leader’s behaviour, Chief Sofo Azorka accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of attempting to intimidate NDC supporters in the area.
He also questioned why Afeyo-Markin entered the party’s office to rip off their candidate’s posters, describing the unannounced appearance as highly provocative and disrespectful.
“A by-election will be held in his [Afenyo-Markin’s] constituency if he tries anything. What does he want here? Is he the NDC secretary? You people should talk to them,” Azorka fumed.
