The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects for their alleged involvement in the defilement of a special needs student of the Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School (BOGISS) in the Upper East Region.
According to a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service, the two suspects are local security men working at the school.
Sources close to newsalertgh.com report that the student was on medication and had suffered a relapse on the day of the alleged assault, which occurred within the school’s premises.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has taken immediate administrative action by interdicting the two watchmen while the Police conduct further investigations into the matter.
In a statement issued on Thursday, August 20, the GES said a thorough investigation was ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
It added that the outcome of the investigations would determine the appropriate sanctions under the GES Code of Conduct and the laws of Ghana.
The two suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
