Ghanaian Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak who initially embarked on a 120-hour attempt to break the current Cook-a-Thon Guinness World Record has set another ambitious target of cooking for 240-hours continuos.
This announcement came hours before she completed the first 120 hours of cooking at 8 minutes past midnight on January 6, 2024.
Despite some questioning her decision, Failatu had valid reasons for extending her cooking marathon. The recent attempt by a Ugandan woman to break the same record concluded with 144 hours of cooking, surpassing the 120-hour mark achieved in Ghana’s Tamale City.
Failatu, determined to push her limits, opted to surpass the Ugandan’s unofficial record and the current Guinness World Record of 119 hours held by Irish chef Allan Fisher. Even though the Ugandan’s record hasn’t been officially confirmed, Failatu set her sights higher, doubling her original goal to an ambitious 240 hours, spanning over 10 days.
Those of you wondering why she is going to do 240hrs is that another Nigerian chef did 200hrs Cook-a-thon in November. Whose attempt is still under review so she has to super pass the 200hrs attempt. #FAILACOOKATHON pic.twitter.com/R12WUgINW7

By achieving this feat, Failatu has already broken records previously held by Nigeria’s Hilda Baci and Allan Fisher. Her ultimate aim is to surpass the unofficial record set by the Ugandan woman, who cooked for 144 hours and establish a new benchmark of 240 hours of continuous cooking.
As of today, January 6th, 2024, at 10 a.m., Failatu has already cooked for an impressive 130 hours, marking significant progress toward her extraordinary goal.
