An aspiring parliamentary candidate of the NPP in the Sekondi constituency, Benjamin Paa Kwesi Moses, has clarified that there was a slip of the tongue when he engaged with the media while picking his nomination forms.
According to the astute businessman, a claim that he voted for the NPP at the age of 15 was made in error, and he has, therefore, apologized for the same. This clarification was included in a press release issued by Mr Moses after his attention was drawn to the error, which occurred as a result of a slip of the tongue.
He explained that he intended to state that he had a passion and deep interest in the NPP when he was 15 years old, but not that he voted for the party at the age of 15. He clarified that the supreme law of the country does not permit anyone at the age of 15 to vote in any general elections, and he could not have been treated differently.
“In fact, this was a complete slip of the tongue as I meant to state that I developed love, passion, and interest in the NPP at the tender age of fifteen when I began to follow political activities in the country keenly,” he said.
He added, “I, therefore, wish to state categorically that the statement was made in error and, therefore, retract and apologize for the same.”
Mr Benjamin Paa Kwesi Moses successfully sailed through the vetting process as the vetting committee declared him eligible to contest. Therefore, the parliamentary primaries in the Sekondi constituency would be a straight battle between him and the incumbent, Agyapa Mercer, who is seeking a third-term bid.
