A professional carpenter, Enoch Arhin, who specializes in roofing, was nearly lynched by an angry mob who suspected him of being gay and a threat to their society. The attempted lynching followed suspicions that the roofing expert was engaging in immoral or homosexual activities, something his community strongly disapproves of.
Mr Arhin, who has a significant influence on many young boys due to his ability to help them find employment, was deemed highly likely to recruit vulnerable boys in the area into the so-called abominable act. This explains why some irate youth of the town allegedly attempted to lynch him, perceiving him as a threat to their cultural values and norms.
How It All Happened:
It was alleged that a certain affluent individual who awarded a big contract to Arhin lured him into homosexual acts with an irresistible financial inducement, leading him to swap his societal values and cultural norms.
It was further gathered that although Arhin is married to a devoted Catholic woman with whom he has children, he allegedly agreed to engage in homosexual activities to meet the financial demands of this individual in exchange for a financial breakthrough.
Driven by a desire for financial freedom and dignified life, Arhin was alleged to have accepted the role of a “wife” to another man, his gay partner, whose identity remains undisclosed.
Alleged Sexual Escapades:
One of Arhin’s boys, alarmed by the actions of Arhin and his newly found gay partner, was said to have secretly recorded some gestures between the two and also read text messages between them on Arhin’s phone. Unknown to Arhin, his trusted confidant, who frequently had access to his phone, allegedly spread the news that Arhin had become gay, a rumour that quickly circulated and led to Arhin being secretly monitored.
Attempt to Lynch Him:
As the rumour spread, Arhin was unaware that he had been placed under secret surveillance by some of the youth, who were trying to confirm the truth of his alleged homosexual escapades with his wealthy partner. On the evening of Friday, January 5th, 2024, Arhin was allegedly caught kissing his male partner at the forecourt of a hotel, where they were suspected of engaging in homosexual activities. He was then chased out.
It was rumoured that his partner quickly jumped into his parked vehicle and sped off when he sensed danger, as the irate youth first attempted to lynch Arhin before turning their attention to him. According to sources, the youth wanted to take matters into their own hands and deal with Arhin and his alleged gay partner mercilessly because they were perceived as bad examples in society, where homosexuality is viewed as a major offence.
Arhin’s wife was also said to have divorced him after the news went viral in the community, and his children were reportedly humiliated by their peers at school. Attempts to reach him for a response were unsuccessful, as he was alleged to have fled to an unknown destination amid the perceived threats to his life for being gay.
