‘MTN Save a life’ blood donation: Your generosity truly makes you a hero – MTN to blood donors

The Economic Empowerment Advisor for the MTN Ghana Foundation, Cynthia Mills, has expressed worry about how some health facilities struggle with blood to save the lives of people in need.

In view of this, she said, “MTN Ghana is determined to take advantage of the month of love to donate more blood to fill the blood banks”.

Madam Mills made this known to the media at the Academy of Christ the King Senior High School in Cape Coast as part of the MTN 2026 Save a Life blood donation exercise.

She called on the general public not to wait for the MTN annual blood donation exercise, but they should be willing to support blood banks.

“Whether you are donating for the first time or have donated before, your generosity truly makes you a hero in our community”, Madam Mills emphasised.

She stated that, “MTN’s ‘Save a Life’ blood donation exercise is an extraordinary effort that continues to deliver vital, life-saving assistance to those urgently in need of blood”.

She observed that “the annual blood donation exercise, which is held during Valentine season, has grown to become an essential support system for the nation”.

She further said that since 2011, “MTN Ghana has successfully collected 26,620 units of blood, which have been distributed to hospitals including Effia Nkwanta Government Hospital, Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Bogoso Government Hospital, Sefwi Wiawso Government Hospital, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Ridge Hospital, the 37 Military Hospital, and regional blood banks across the country”.

According to her, each year, the company’s positive impact continues to grow, bringing hope and healing to more people across Ghana.

As a result, she added, MTN Ghana Foundation has set an ambitious target to collect 7,000 units of blood.

“I am hopeful that we can achieve this, and I wish to use this opportunity to thank all employee volunteers, the media and the general public for your support over the years.  I am certain that this year will be as successful as previous years. Together, we are poised to build upon our achievements, fortify our healthcare system, and save even more lives throughout our communities”, Madam Mills said.

On his part, Samuel Odua Quarmyne, a health personnel at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital blood bank, said MTN had been a backbone to Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.

He saluted MTN for their marvellous support to the Cape Coast teaching hospital and asked them to continue to support them.
