The family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, has announced key arrangements for her final funeral rites, slated for November 28, 2025.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, was a pioneering advocate for women’s empowerment and founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement, which played a crucial role in promoting women’s rights and participation in governance.
Addressing the media on behalf of the family on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Oheneba Akwasi Abayie, Otumfuo Akomforehene, revealed that the funeral activities will begin at 6 a.m. with the arrival of the cortege at the venue.

The ceremony will begin at 6:00 a.m. with the arrival of the cortege at Independence Square, Accra.

Attire is strictly black, and there will be no officially designated funeral cloth.

The funeral is open to the general public, and all mourners are encouraged to participate fully. Security and protocol officers will be on hand to guide attendees to their seats.

The family stressed that this ceremony represents the final funeral rites. No additional ceremonies will be held elsewhere once the burial service concludes at Independence Square.
The family urged all mourners to arrive early and comply with the directives of the security and protocol teams to ensure a smooth and orderly ceremony.
They also expressed deep gratitude to the general public for the overwhelming show of sympathy since her passing.
Nana Konadu, founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement and former First Lady, passed away on October 23, 2025.
