The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and the Ghana Police Service have begun a series of coordinated intelligence-led operations in the Ashanti, Volta, and Ahafo Regions aimed at arresting individuals involved in recent attacks on members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) and other security personnel.
In a press release issued by the Department of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces, the operations commenced at dawn on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, targeting specific locations — Dadwene and Anwona in the Ashanti Region, Ehi in the Volta Region, and Hwediem, Kenyase, Guaso, and Marhani in the Ahafo Region.
According to the statement signed by Captain (Ghana Navy) Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director-General of Public Relations, the joint swoops are part of efforts to apprehend individuals identified for their roles in attacks on NAIMOS officials, police officers, and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) personnel, including journalists.
The Armed Forces and the Police warned that any person or group attempting to obstruct their operations or interfere with lawful duties related to anti-galamsey activities will face the full force of the law.
They further assured the general public that adequate measures have been put in place to guarantee the safety and security of residents in the affected towns and communities.
Citizens are encouraged to remain calm and continue their normal activities without fear or panic.
The statement also commended civil society organisations, the media, and individuals for their support and condemnation of the recent attacks, emphasising that the success of the anti-galamsey drive depends on the continued cooperation of the general public.
The release urged all media houses to support the dissemination of accurate information regarding the ongoing operations.
