The Rotary Club of Accra – Ring Road Central (RRC) has held its highly anticipated “Walk for a Child – The 4th Decade Version” to mark 40 years of dedicated service.
The walk held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, began and ended at the ABSA Club House and saw participants journey through Ring Road, Ako-Adjei Interchange, and Kwame Nkrumah Circle. It brought together Rotarians, families, corporate partners, friends of Rotary, and members of the public in a colourful celebration of fellowship and community service.
Unlike a routine fitness activity, Walk for a Child 2025 carried a deeper mission—raising funds for the Club’s 40th Anniversary Legacy Projects. These projects aim to make a lasting difference in healthcare and education by:
-
Equipping the Berekuso Community Clinic with vital medical equipment.
-
Establishing modern ICT laboratories at Abossey Okai Anglican School and the Mateheko Cluster of Schools.

Donating four incubators to deprived health facilities to save the lives of premature babies.
This year’s walk was particularly significant as RRC recently handed over a multi-million-cedi health facility at Berekuso in the Eastern Region, already transforming healthcare in the community. Building on that milestone, the Club is now focused on tackling newborn mortality by providing incubators to health facilities across the country.
Speaking after the walk, the President of RRC, Henry Lamptey, thanked participants and partners for their support, describing the event as a true reflection of Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self.”
“We are here this morning not just to walk, but to raise funds and expend some energy towards our projects for this year. We’re constructing and refurbishing two ICT labs, procuring four incubators for institutions across the country, and equipping the Berekuso hospital we built over the last four years. The total project cost is in excess of GH¢400,000, and our goal is to raise about half a million cedis to complete them by June 30 next year.”
He also outlined other upcoming fundraising programs, including the Shake O Rama in December and Taste of Ghana in March 2026, which will complement the walk in mobilising funds.
The Chairperson of the Anniversary Planning Committee also acknowledged sponsors, including First Bank, the Rotaract Club of Accra Ring Road Central, Rotarians, and friends of the Club, noting that the success of the walk was a collective effort.
