I Was Billed for One Segment – Ntim Fordjour Denies Storming Out of “Biased and Hostile” Newsfile

The Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has strongly refuted claims that he walked out of Accra-based Joy News’ Newsfile programme.

According to him, that narrative is false and staged.

His reaction comes in the wake of a trending video which captured the Assin South MP allegedly storming out of the programme.

Taking to his social media handles, Rev Ntim Fordjour clarified that his appearance on Newsfile was scheduled strictly for a particular segment noting that he exited only after that portion had ended.

“I never walked out of Newsfile contrary to what Samson Ayenini and Sammy Gyamfi put out. I was billed for only a particular segment and was told another panellist was billed to take over after my segment. I left after my segment fully concluded and the break was taken for me to exit while my replacement walked in to take her seat.”

“While exiting, I indicated to Samson his biased and hostile hosting. Sammy Gyamfi filmed the exit and broadcasted falsely on his WhatsApp with claims of me walking out of the show. Samson immediately upon resuming from break to begin the next segment, mischievously stated I had walked out of the show because he had read disingenuous messages.”

He further accused the host of expressing bias and making prejudicial remarks.

“He pronounced me guilty, to shut up, jail-bound and all sorts of inappropriate false pronouncements, clearly not hiding his prejudices to smear me,” Ntim Fordjour stated.

Ntim Fordjour called on the public to disregard both the claims by Samson and the video shared by Sammy Gyamfi, labelling them as a “staged” attempt to discredit him.

“It was staged, not coincidence. I stayed through the full segment I was billed for and exited after.”

It will be recalled that a heated debate erupted on JoyNews’ Newsfile following allegations made by Rev. Ntim Fordjour regarding two aircraft allegedly linked to drug trafficking and money laundering. The Assin South MP appeared on the show to shed more light on the Minority’s claims about the AirMed air ambulance and a private jet that reportedly stayed in Ghana for several days before departing for Gran Canaria, a Spanish island.

Rev. Fordjour, citing intelligence sources, claimed that the aircraft could have been involved in transporting illicit substances such as cocaine and large sums of U.S. dollars.

In response, government officials, including Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, have strongly dismissed the allegations. They described the claims as baseless, accusing the MP of spreading disinformation without proper verification.
