The Chairperson of the Young Parliamentarians’ Forum, Joycelyn Quashie, has issued a rallying cry for young and female MPs to seize the grand opportunity of representing their constituents to drive equity and inclusion in society.
Speaking at a high-level strategic planning engagement on Monday, March 24, 2025, the North Dayi MP reaffirmed the commitment of the Young Parliamentarians’ Forum and the Women’s Caucus of Ghana’s 9th Parliament to advancing inclusive governance and equity through strategic collaboration.
In her welcome address, Mrs. Joycelyn Quashie underscored the significance of vision, cooperation, and strategic planning in shaping the work of young and female lawmakers.

“An engagement like this is essential because it affords us the opportunity as young and female lawmakers to collaborate with partners, to determine our shared priorities,” she stated.
She also expressed profound gratitude to key partners, including the French Embassy in Ghana and Parliamentary Network Africa (PNAfrica), for their unwavering support in strengthening parliamentary democracy and lauded the presence of representatives from sister countries.

“Their presence allows us to gain knowledge from best practices in their countries,” she noted.
The meeting focused on leveraging the recently passed Affirmative Action Bill to push for policies that strengthen communities and promote gender equity in governance.

“While we remind ourselves of the important role that young and female parliamentarians play in promoting inclusive governance, defending equity, and pushing for laws that strengthen our communities, let’s also keep in mind the grand opportunity that the passage of the Affirmative Action Bill affords us in our pursuit,” she stressed.
Joycelyn also urged participants to take advantage of the panel discussions and sharing sessions to craft a strategic plan that will guide their work for the next four years.

“Let’s take advantage of the panel discussion and sharing sessions to jointly create a strategic plan that will direct our work over the next four years in order that we can guarantee organized cooperation with civil society and our development partners,” she urged.

“I am confident that our deliberations will be productive and inspiring, paving the way for a more effective, unified, and forward-thinking Bloc of Young and Female Parliamentarians,” she stated.
