President John Mahama has announced a ban on first-class travel for government appointees as part of measures to curb excessive expenditure.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony for newly appointed ministers at the Jubilee House on Friday, February 7, 2025, President Mahama stressed that his administration would be characterized by modesty and respect for the Ghanaian people.
He disclosed that he has directed the Chief of Staff to officially communicate the ban on non-essential travel to all ministers and appointees.
“Any travel that is deemed essential and necessary must be cleared first with the Office of the Chief of Staff and such travels will have to be taken in modesty no first class,” he said.
Mahama also noted that his administration would not tolerate arrogance or extravagance, warning appointees against wasteful spending.
“The resources you will be working with belong to the Ghanaian people who put us in office,” he said.
