The Ad-Hoc Parliamentary Committee investigating the chaotic scenes that occurred during the January 30 vetting of minister-nominees resumed its public hearings today, Friday, February 7, 2025, following an abrupt suspension on Wednesday, February 5.
Wednesday’s session was temporarily suspended when the Clerk to Parliament withdrew staff, citing a lack of authorization from Speaker Alban Bagbin.
However, the Chairman of the Committee accused the Minority caucus, led by its Leader, of influencing the suspension and misleading the Clerk by incorrectly attributing the decision to the Speaker.
The Speaker has, however, given the green light and directed the committee to proceed with its work.
The committee’s investigation will review video footage from the January 30 events, identify and interview key witnesses, and submit a report to Parliament once concluded.
