Sam George Vows Tough Sanctions for Telcos Delivering Poor Services

Minister-nominee for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has issued a strong warning to Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) failing to meet quality service standards.

According to him, such telcos will face stiff penalties, including fines if they continue to offer poor services to customers.

During his vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Thursday, January 30, 2025, the Ningo Prampram MP pledged to ensure that telecommunications companies deliver reliable and efficient services to Ghanaians.

He noted that while the government would support MNOs in improving their infrastructure, it would not tolerate subpar service delivery.

“I will not be a minister who’ll be afraid to impose a fine when MNOs fail to provide the quality of services required, as well as we support them in doing so,” he said.

Mr. George also reaffirmed his commitment to promoting technological advancement and innovation in the digital sector and stressed the importance of creating an environment where Ghanaians can rely on quality telecommunications services.
