The leading telecommunication network in Ghana, MTN has distributed hampers to a total of 60 children born on Christmas Day in the Central Region.
The distribution of the hampers was in fulfilment of the company’s commitment to showing love to “Christmas Babies” as part of MTN’s flagship initiative which showcases the human face of the MTN brand.
Breakdown
The flagship initiative that embodies the spirit of giving and caring that defines MTN, saw the distribution of 20 hampers to Christmas Day babies born in the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
At the Kasoa Mother and Child Clinic, 15 babies born on the 25th of December received hampers while the distribution of hampers to 10 babies born on Christmas Day took place at the Bawjiase Polyclinic.
The Trauma Specialist Hospital at Winneba in the Effutu Municipality recorded 15 newborn babies on Christmas Day who also received a hamper each from MTN.
Hampers and Their Contents
The Human Resource Manager, MTN South, Regina Arkaifie disclosed that the hampers for this year’s initiative contained a carefully curated selection of items, including Newborn clothing, Detergents, Toys, Blankets and Personal care items.
Significance of the distributions
She added that since its introduction in 2011, the flagship initiative that embodies the spirit of giving and caring that defined MTN has continuously demonstrated MTN’s untiring commitment to caring for the well-being of Ghanaians.
The initiative basically provided essential items to families with Christmas Day babies to alleviate some of the pressures associated with caring for a new life.
Note of appreciation
The Deputy Child Nursing Officer at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Veronica Koomson, on behalf of the beneficiary parents and their children expressed a deep sense of appreciation to MTN for the honour done the kids.
In all, 600 hampers were distributed to Christmas Day children across all 16 regions, as against 500 hampers distributed last year, indicating a significant increase of 100 hampers.
The Baby Hamper Distribution project did not just proudly illustrate the caring side of MTN brand during this yuletide season but it has been a shining example of MTN’s dedication to giving back to the community.
Since its implementation across all 16 regions of Ghana after a few years, MTN has so far, distributed over 3,500 hampers through the project which offered MTN staff a unique opportunity to volunteer their time and make a tangible difference in the lives of families with newborns during the Christmas season.
