Youth urged to acquire employability skills to bridge gap between education and employment

A renowned Management Consultant, Mr Nyamekeh Yankey, has urged young people to acquire essential employability skills to bridge the gap between education and employment.

Mr. Yankey emphasized the importance of foundational skills such as communication, problem-solving, and time management. He noted that these skills are critical in enhancing job prospects, improving job performance, and fostering positive work environments.

“Young people need to understand that while academic qualifications are important, their employability skills will set them apart in today’s competitive job market,” Mr. Yankey stated. He pointed out that the current mismatch between the skills young people possess and those required by employers is a significant factor contributing to youth unemployment.

Mr. Nyamekeh Yankey was speaking at a webinar hosted by Elidel Prestige Limited, a leading Ghanaian-owned Human Resource and Business Management Consultancy firm in Accra.

The event, titled “Empowering the Future: Essential Skills for Youth Employment Success,” was held in celebration of World Youth Skills Day. It aimed to address the critical issue of youth unemployment by equipping young people with the skills needed to thrive in today’s dynamic job market.
