The Rotary Club of Accra-Airport has donated educational learning materials worth over GH₵20,000 to the Street Child Empowerment Foundation (SCEF).
The gesture is aimed at inculcating reading among kids of school-going age.

This initiative not only demonstrates the club’s unwavering commitment to education and community development but also underscores the profound impact that collective efforts can have on empowering underprivileged children.
The Rotary Club of Accra-Airport has long been dedicated to various social causes, and their latest endeavour exemplifies their dedication to enhancing the lives of the less fortunate. The partnership with the Street Child Empowerment Foundation (SCEF) highlights its commitment to eradicating educational disparities and providing opportunities for marginalized children.


The donation, which comprises a wide range of educational resources, including textbooks, school supplies, learning aids, and educational technology, was hailed by the recipients as a significant boost to SCEF’s mission. These materials were tagged timely and a means to improve the quality of education and provide children in need with essential tools to realize their potential.
Speaking at an event to present the items to the street children dubbed ‘Back to School’ held at the John Wesley Methodist Basic School in Jamestown, Palladium, the President of the Rotary Club of Accra-Airport, Peace Akwei-Brock, expressed the club’s enthusiasm for this project.

“We believe that education is a fundamental right that every child should have access to. The donation of these educational materials is our way of investing in the future of the underprivileged children under SCEF’s care. We hope that these materials will help inspire a love for learning and provide them with the means to build a brighter future.”
She also noted that in partnership with the StreetChildren Empowerment Foundation, the Club under her guidance will mentor over 100 school children.

She also expressed optimism that the distribution of the writing and learning materials will create hope in the street children and spur them on to do more.
The Street Child Empowerment Foundation (SCEF) is committed to improving street children’s and vulnerable youth’s lives through education, vocational training, and social support. They have been providing critical assistance to those in need for several years and have established a commendable track record in making a difference.

On his part, Paul Semeh, the Executive Director of SCEF, expressed his gratitude for the Rotary Club’s generous donation.
He also touted the importance of education and added that the educational materials will go a long way in equipping their beneficiaries with the tools they need to succeed academically.
The total amount of the educational learning materials donated to SCEF was Ghs40,000 with Rotary Club’s contribution being Ghs20,000 while other partners footed the rest of the cost.
