The Volta North Regional Police Command has arrested two drivers for allegedly transporting suspected narcotic drugs in the region.
The arrest was made on Thursday, 29 January 2026, when police patrol officers intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers GE-8254-13 and AW-4321-14, which were heading towards Kpando. The vehicles were suspected of conveying dried substances believed to be Indian hemp.
According to a press release issued and signed by the Public Relations Officer, Inspector Felix Kwao, the drivers attempted to evade arrest upon spotting the patrol team by speeding into a nearby bush.

A subsequent search conducted on the vehicles revealed 20 sacks containing a total of 680 pieces of dried leaves, neatly packed in white rubber bags and suspected to be narcotic substances.
