The Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has called on Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the Oti Region to take immediate action to address the accommodation crisis affecting healthcare workers in the region.
During a recent visit to the Oti Region, Minister Akandoh inspected the site for the upcoming Regional Hospital and met with local officials to discuss the challenges facing healthcare professionals. The lack of suitable housing was identified as a major deterrent to healthcare workers accepting postings in the region.
The Minister tasked the MDCEs to identify specific challenges and implement swift solutions to improve the healthcare system, aiming to eliminate the negative perception associated with working in Oti and attract qualified professionals.
Hon. Nelson Kofi Djabab, MP for Krachi East, supported the Minister’s call, highlighting government efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure. The MDCEs also voiced their concerns, appealing for assistance to address the issues and improve healthcare delivery in their districts.
