Jinapor Brothers ‘Clash’ Over Dumsor

The Member of Parliament for Damongo, Samuel Abu Jinapor and his brother, the Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu, have clashed over dumsor.

In contributing to the ongoing parliamentary debate on the 2024 State of the Nation Address, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources indicated that despite the current power outages being an inconvenience, they are still preferable to the conditions under the NDC government with John Jinapor in charge of the energy sector at that time.

He stated that Ghanaians suffered what they experienced yesterday for four years and do not have a short memory of what they went through in the past under the then NDC government.

The NDC MP, in an earlier submission on the floor of Parliament, expressed concern about the recent power outages in Ghana, stating that it is a sign of a looming crisis in the country’s power sector. He added that the power outages are due to the government’s inability to purchase fuel for the country’s thermal plants.

Indeed, the load shedding is getting worse by the day. The very day His Excellency the President was delivering the State of the Nation address and boasting, up until that very moment, the utility companies were shedding the load,” he said on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

“You will attest that there was some massive darkness yesterday. Today at noon, load shedding will commence again,” he added.

He explained that several of the country’s thermal power plants are not functioning properly, resulting in a significant reduction in power generation.

According to him, the government has been unable to purchase enough fuel to run the thermal plants due to financial constraints.

He urged the government to be more transparent and open about the situation and to provide people with the information they need to plan their lives.
