President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghanaians to place the national interest above political, tribal, and personal considerations to strengthen unity and accelerate the country’s development.
According to the President, genuine patriotism must be demonstrated through the daily actions of citizens and public officials, particularly in safeguarding national resources and serving the public with integrity.
Delivering his address during the scaled-down 69th Ghana Independence Day celebrations on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Jubilee House, President Mahama stressed that Ghana’s progress depends on the collective commitment of citizens to put the country first.
“True patriotism must be shown through our everyday actions, the citizen who protects public property, the public servant who treats everyone with respect,” he said.
The President noted that beyond public service, individuals in the private sector also play a crucial role in national development through investments that contribute to the country’s future.
“And the entrepreneur who opts to invest his resources in Ghana’s future. Above all, we must place country above party, above tribe and above personal interest,” he stated.
He emphasised that unity and shared responsibility remain essential for national progress, urging citizens to remain guided by a collective commitment to Ghana’s growth.
