Ghana Water Limited (GWL) in the Volta Region has announced an emergency shutdown at the Kpeve Headworks, scheduled for Thursday, January 22, 2026, beginning at 5:00 a.m., to allow for urgent repair works on a major leakage along the raw water transmission line.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Management of GWL explained that the shutdown has become necessary to address a serious fault detected on the transmission infrastructure, which requires immediate attention to prevent further damage and ensure the safety and reliability of water supply systems in the region.
As a result of the shutdown, water supply to Ho Township, Kpeve, Peki, and surrounding communities will be temporarily interrupted during the repair period.
GWL assured customers that production and supply of water will resume immediately after the completion of the repair works. In the meantime, residents and institutions within the affected areas have been advised to store adequate water ahead of the exercise to minimise inconvenience.
Management of Ghana Water Limited, Volta Region, expressed regret for any inconvenience the emergency shutdown may cause and appealed to the general public for patience and understanding as engineers work to restore normal operations.
The company reiterated its commitment to providing safe and reliable water to customers and thanked the public for their continued cooperation.
