We have Greater Accra on lockdown – Ken Agyapong Camp predicts victory in NPP primary

Supporters of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong say their internal assessments indicate a strong victory in the upcoming presidential primary, with Greater Accra firmly in their grasp.

According to the camp, the region’s past voting patterns, coupled with renewed grassroots mobilisation and key political endorsements, place Mr Agyapong ahead of his main contenders as the party heads into the January 31 contest.

Speaking to Tutuwaa Danso on Accra-based Starr FM’s Starr Today, Special Aide to Kennedy Agyapong, Kobby Amoah Esq., said they are confident of victory across several regions.

“We know the strategies we are deploying, and I’m telling you that you are going to win this election. I can even predict the regions. I believe we have Greater Accra on lockdown… This should not come as a surprise. In the last primary, Kennedy secured 47 percent in the region, despite all the forces working against him. When you compare that 47 percent to his final national figure of 37 percent, it shows how strong Greater Accra was for him. This time around, with the influence of Naa Torshie and Lord Commey, we are going to win Greater Accra.”

Mr Amoah described the Central Region as a “no-brainer” and expressed confidence in winning in the Volta and Oti regions.

“The Central Region is a no-brainer. We are going to win the Volta Region. I have been to the Oti Region, and I can confidently say that we are going to win there as well,” he stated.

He explained that the predictions are based on careful observation and data, noting that he is also a delegate in the race.

“This assessment is more scientific and based on observation. You don’t just sit back and throw words around. Yes, they have the power, but I can still make my prediction, and I am a delegate myself,” he added.

Touching on the Eastern Region, Mr Amoah said it would be a keenly contested battleground among the top three candidates.

“The Eastern Region will be a very strong battleground among all three candidates. We could secure a marginal win there, and I would be surprised if it goes any other way. With about 20,000 delegates in the Eastern Region, we may end up with an even split among the top three candidates, around 6,000 delegates each.”

He further noted that the campaign is performing well in the Bono Region, while more work is needed in Bono East, though he believes it remains winnable. He also expressed confidence in the party’s prospects across the five northern regions.

“Overall, we are going to win the Bono Region, and without a doubt, we are going to win this election. I am very confident,” he stated.
