The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Limited, Volta Region, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening institutional partnerships and supporting quality healthcare delivery with a donation of GHC 30,000 to the Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH) for the refurbishment of critical facilities within its Accident and Emergency Department.
The donation, which targets the complete refurbishment of two side wards at the Transient Unit of the Emergency Department, is aimed at improving patient comfort, safety and efficiency of care during emergency and critical treatment phases. The initiative forms part of ECG’s broader corporate social responsibility efforts and reflects the strong working relationship between the power distribution company and the region’s premier tertiary health facility.
The cheque was formally presented during a brief ceremony at the Ho Teaching Hospital by the Volta Regional General Manager of ECG, Christina Jatoe-Kaleo. She noted that ECG recognises the central role Ho Teaching Hospital plays in providing specialised healthcare services not only to the Volta Region but also to neighbouring regions and countries, making it imperative for key public institutions to collaborate in strengthening its infrastructure.
According to Madam Jatoe-Kaleo, the donation goes beyond financial support and represents ECG’s desire to build enduring partnerships that positively impact lives. She emphasised that a reliable healthcare system is essential to national development, and ECG is proud to contribute to efforts that enhance patient care and dignity, particularly within emergency services where timely and quality interventions can be life-saving.
Receiving the donation on behalf of hospital management, the Director of Administration, Mr. George Tetteh, expressed profound appreciation to ECG for its timely and thoughtful support. He described the gesture as a testament to the strong institutional relationship between ECG and Ho Teaching Hospital, underscoring how collaboration between public sector entities can effectively address pressing infrastructural needs.
Also present at the ceremony were the Director of Finance, Mr. Kwasi Dzramedo; the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services, Madam Stella Amenuveve; and the Head of the Accident and Emergency Department, Dr. Edward K. Agyekum. They commended ECG for recognising the importance of emergency care infrastructure and pledged that the funds would be used strictly for the intended purpose to achieve maximum impact.
Following the presentation, officials from both institutions toured the designated side wards to assess the scope of work to be undertaken. The refurbishment is expected to significantly enhance the healing environment, improve workflow for healthcare professionals and ensure greater comfort and dignity for patients receiving emergency care.
The donation highlights the value of strategic partnerships between key public institutions in advancing social development. By pooling resources and expertise, ECG and Ho Teaching Hospital continue to demonstrate how collaborative efforts can contribute meaningfully to improved healthcare delivery and overall well-being of the people of the Volta Region and beyond.
As Ho Teaching Hospital continues to expand its services as a major referral and teaching facility, such partnerships remain crucial in bridging infrastructure gaps and sustaining quality healthcare outcomes across the region.
