The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested a man seen in a viral Facebook video physically assaulting a woman believed to be his wife at their residence in Ofankor, located in the Ga East Municipality.
The suspect, identified as John Odartey Lamptey, was picked up on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the family home following public outrage over the disturbing footage.
According to a Police statement signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer, CID, two of the suspects’ siblings — Grace Kushie Lamptey and Louis Odartey Lamptey — were also arrested after they allegedly attempted to attack a female tenant they believed had recorded and shared the video.
Police intervened swiftly, rescuing the tenant and ensuring her safety.

Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to locate the assaulted woman, who reportedly fled the scene before officers arrived. The Police say her safety and well-being remain a top priority.
The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to combating domestic violence and ensuring that all perpetrators are held accountable under the law.
