Hundreds of thousands of music lovers flooded Accra’s Black Star Square on Saturday, October 18, 2025, as Shatta Wale delivered a record-breaking birthday concert that shut down the capital and cemented his status as one of Ghana’s biggest musical icons.
The free mega-show, dubbed “Shatta Fest 2025 x Shattabration: The King Calls,” transformed the entire area into a sea of white-clad fans, music, and electrifying energy, all in honour of the self-proclaimed Dancehall King.
Although the concert was scheduled to kick off at 4:00 p.m., excited fans began arriving as early as midday. By nightfall, every corner of the Square—and even the surrounding streets—was packed to capacity.

Shatta Wale, whose birthday fell on 17th October, said the event was his personal way of appreciating the fans who have stood by him throughout his career.

The festival featured a powerhouse lineup of Ghana’s top artists, including:
Sarkodie, Samini, Wendy Shay, Medikal, Kelvynboy, Amerado, Darkovibes, Tinny, JZyNo, Kwame Yogot, DopeNation, and more.
Each act delivered high-energy performances that kept the crowd roaring until the early hours of Sunday morning.

The concert officially wrapped up after 7 a.m. on Sunday, making it one of the longest-running open-air concerts in Ghanaian history.
Powered by MoMo Fest (Mobile Money Ghana Limited) and supported by Shaxi and Charterhouse, the event has since dominated social media, with fans and critics praising Shatta Wale’s unmatched stagecraft and ability to mobilise massive crowds.

Born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., Shatta Wale has built a legendary career with chart-topping hits like “Dancehall King,” “My Level,” and “Taking Over.”

His collaboration with Beyoncé on “Already” pushed Ghana onto the global music map, and his long list of local and international awards reflects his influence and passion.

With a fiercely loyal fan base and a reputation for delivering unforgettable performances, Shatta Wale has once again proven why many call him the GOAT of Ghanaian music.
