The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho Central, Richmond Edem Kpotosu, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving education in the constituency with the launch and distribution of 15,000 customised exercise books to schoolchildren.
Speaking at a ceremony attended by teachers, parents, pupils and traditional leaders, Mr Kpotosu described education as “the foundation of our future,” urging all stakeholders to play their part in nurturing young learners.
“These exercise books are more than just pages. They represent hope, ambition and the endless possibilities that lie ahead of our children.”
The MP explained that the books were designed to reflect the area’s rich culture and to inspire pupils to dream big while staying connected to their heritage.
“It is for the children, not for any headmaster or teacher to keep under a pillow, in an office, or in a car boot. Give it to the children to use. It is to help them towards a better future.”
He further urged teachers to stay ahead in today’s fast-changing digital world, noting that many children are exposed to advanced content on social media.
“We have to move faster than the children so that when they divert, we can guide them back on the straight path.”
Ho Municipal Education Director, Dr Esther Yeboah-Adzimah, lauded the initiative and reminded pupils to embrace critical thinking and responsible use of technology. She also called on parents to complement teachers’ efforts by creating a supportive home environment.
“Children spend more time at home than in school. Parents must help provide a holistic education.”
Hon. Kpotosu pledged further investment in education, stressing that the exercise book distribution marked only the beginning of broader projects to give every child in Ho Central the best opportunity to succeed.
