The suspended Chief Justice, Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, is currently addressing the nation on petitions seeking her removal from office.
The embattled Chief Justice was suspended by President John Mahama on April 22, 2025, following the submission of three petitions alleging misconduct. After consulting the Council of State, the president determined that a prima facie case had been established and set up a five-member committee to investigate her conduct.
After months of silence and legal battles challenging her removal, she has now chosen to speak publicly for the first time since her suspension.
