President John Dramani Mahama has expressed renewed optimism about Ghana’s economic outlook. According to him, the country is beginning to see signs of macroeconomic stability after years of hardship.
Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum on Saturday, April 19, 2025, President Mahama acknowledged the economic turbulence that had gripped the nation in recent times.
“We’re all aware of the challenges our country has faced in recent years, but I’m confident—and I say this with sincerity—that we will turn the corner,” he assured participants at the forum.
He cited the gradual decline in inflation and signs of currency stabilisation as evidence of progress driven by disciplined economic management.
“With this disciplined management, we shall restore a measure of confidence in our economy,” Mahama added.
However, he was quick to caution that recovery alone is not enough. He called for bold and sustained efforts to transform the economy into one that is resilient, inclusive, and productive.
“This cannot be achieved without a financial sector that works not just for a few, but for every Ghanaian business—from the roadside vendor to the massive industrialist,” he stated.
Outlining his vision for Ghana’s business environment, Mahama revealed plans for a targeted programme aimed at restoring investor confidence. This, he said, would involve enhancing transparency, reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks, and promoting a rules-based investment climate.
