The Ghana Police Service has arrested three individuals in connection with violent disturbances that erupted during a football match between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC at Nsoatre in the Bono Region on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
The suspects including former Employment Minister and former Sunyani West MP, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Agyemang Duah Owusu, as well as Kyeremeh Joseph are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
In a statement issued on February 3, the police confirmed that all three suspects are assisting with investigations.
“A search conducted in the room of suspect Agyemang Duah Owusu led to the retrieval of two dresses with suspected bloodstains and an MP 23 pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition.”
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and the leadership of Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC following the fatal incident.
