NDC administration will reverse all ‘last-minute’ gov’t employee promotions – Asiedu Nketiah

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration will reverse all “last minute” promotions for government employees undertaken by the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the NDC has said.

Additionally, all “last minute” appointments in the government sector will also be terminated, if proven to have been illegally done.

Speaking at a victory rally in Sunyani on Friday, December 20, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah alleged that his information is that last week alone, the NPP government issued about 10,000 appointment letters and promoted several government officials in public institutions and agencies.

He questioned the NPP government’s motive for undertaking such last-minute decisions.

Mr Asiedu Nketiah mentioned the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), the Customers Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) as some of the institutions the NDC has gathered information about “last-minute” appointments and promotions.

He alleged that the outgoing government had backdated some of the appointment letters to “cover up their illegal activities.”

Mr Nketiah said the government had also promoted some government officials believed to be members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who were not due for promotions.

He was of the opinion that the promoters were planted in the offices and agencies to occupy high positions to cover up the rot of the outgoing government.

“All those who illegally gain recruitment and promotions in the public institutions and agencies will be terminated or reversed,” he said.

He also threatened that any government official who played a role in the “fake” recruitment and promotions would be sacked from office if he or she failed to defend or explain themselves.
