The National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) in the Central Gonja District has organised a peace walk ahead of the upcoming December polls. Leaders and members of the major political parties—the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ghana Union Movement (GUM), and National Democratic Congress (NDC)—joined hands in a show of solidarity for peace.
Faith-based organizations, including the Muslim Union and the Christian Union, particularly the Council of Local Churches, were also present to lend their support.
The walk commenced at 7:30 a.m. from the Buipe Hospital Junction and culminated at the market. At the market, leaders of various faith groups, under the guidance of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) district team, pledged to educate their followers on the importance of maintaining peace before, during, and after the 2024 general elections.
Participants carried placards displaying powerful peace messages and warnings about the devastating effects of violence on society.
This peace walk was organized under the mandate of the NCCE district directorate in collaboration with the Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC). It aimed to promote unity and peaceful coexistence in the lead-up to the elections through active engagement with inter-faith groups.
