Construction of National Cathedral Set to Resume Soon – Apostle Onyinah

The construction of the National Cathedral is expected to resume soon, following an announcement by the board chairman, Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah. This comes after a meeting held on September 20 between the Board of Directors of the National Cathedral of Ghana and representatives from audit firm Deloitte.

The meeting was convened to review the statutory audit report, which detailed the financial activities of the project from its inception up to December 31, 2020. The audit was in response to public concerns over alleged financial mismanagement and corruption linked to the construction of the project.

In a statement issued on September 24, Apostle Onyinah confirmed that the audit report is now complete, paving the way for the resumption of construction activities that had stalled due to financial scrutiny and public outcry.

“The need for an audit was a key demand by the church leadership and Ghanaians in general to establish the credibility of the implementation of the project. With the completion of this first report, preparations are underway for construction to resume.”

“We appreciate your support so far, and trust that the completion of the ongoing audit will renew your prayer and financial support for the NCG project.”

The project, which has been a subject of intense debate and criticism, faced significant delays and financial challenges. Concerns over cost overruns, alleged mismanagement of funds, and the overall necessity of the project in the current economic climate have sparked widespread public scrutiny.
