Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has recalled Members of Parliament from recess for a special session.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the Speaker directed MPs to return to the House from Monday, August 24, to Friday, August 28, 2026, to consider what he describes as urgent parliamentary business.

Parliament was initially expected to remain on recess until October. However, MPs have now been directed to resume sitting at noon on Monday, August 24, at Parliament House in Accra.
The recall notice, which was made pursuant to Order 58(4) of the Standing Orders of Parliament, comes less than three weeks after the House adjourned sine die on July 31, 2026.
The House is expected to consider urgent matters during the five-day sitting, including ministerial nominations, nominations to the Supreme Court, proposed amendments relating to LGBTQ+ legislation, and several financial matters.
