Savannah Regional Minister Saeed Muhazu Jibril has indicated that the pasting of New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary candidates posters and that of the flagbearer on the District Roads Improvement Project (DRIP) machines is not anything that should worry the NDC since buses and laptops were equally branded under the John Mahama administration which the NPP then in opposition never complained.
Responding to a petition presented to him by the NDC in the Savannah Region asking for the posters to be removed, the Savannah Regional Minister indicated that the machines were procured by the government of the day and will surely which the NDC has no hands in and should stay off the machines.
He said opposition MPs and any other individual in the district can apply to use them for the benefit of the development of the district since that is the purpose of the equipments but stated categorically clear that the NPP in power will not take off any poster since it is under them that equipment came into existence.
He said further that the member of parliament for the Salaga South constituency misled her people by indicating that the machines were procured through the MPs share of the common fund which saw supporters of both the NDC and NPP in a bloody clash with many sustaining injuries of various degrees.
On the 3 day ultimatum by the NDC to the minister to ensure the posters are removed, the minister said it is never going to happen and dared anybody to have he/herself to blame if anything happens to any of the equipments.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the NPP in the region, Mohammed Issah said the wanton disregard for law and order by the NDC in the Savannah Region would not be countenanced any day.
“Let them first of all go and take back all the MPs common fund they have shared to themselves and their party people from 2017 to date. They must call out the NPP to a table and let us distribute those monies with them”, he said.
He added that the NHIS share of the MP that has been given to their MPs since 2017 must be vomited and same managed by the same approach they are suggesting.
“We are daring the NDC to carry out their empty threat of putting ndc posters on any of the equipment and we shall see who owns the equipment, that is where you will see limbs flying in the air, trust me he said.
The NDC in the Savannah Region on Monday 9th September 2024 issued a cautioned to the leadership of the New Patriotic Party in the Savannah Region to as a matter of urgency remove posters pasted on the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) equipments distributed across the various districts in the region.
In a press conference addressed by the communication director of the NDC in the Savannah Region Mr R.A Jalil in Damongo, the NDC petitioned the Savannah Regional Minister, the Yagbonwura, the Regional Police Command and the leadership of the NPP to immediately take off their party posters from the equipments or else the NDC will also in the next 3 days brand the equipments in NDC Colours.
