2024 Elections: Alleged Over-Bloated Register – EC Must Be Called to Order, Any Attempt to Rig Would Be a Recipe for Chaos

The Electoral Commission of Ghana, headed by the obstinate Jean Mensa, is bent on grasping the nettle of using an over-bloated register to rig the 2024 elections.

First of all, despite the numerous calls by well-meaning Ghanaians for the commission to conduct free, fair, and transparent elections, these calls seem misdirected.

The EC has made us believe that its outfit, headed by Jean Mensa, has so far registered roughly 18.7 million eligible voters onto the Ghanaian voter register for the 2024 polls.

This indicates that, when we put aside the 2020 register, which had approximately 17 million voters, the EC is telling the whole country that they have registered about 1.7 million new registrants onto the register.

Statistically, this is highly preposterous, judging from the fact that Ghana’s total population is projected to be 34.7 million. This means nearly all adults are registered as voters in Ghana, which is statistically impossible.

This calculation should inform the NDC that either the EC has inflated the numbers to aid the NPP in rigging the election, or the EC has tacitly impregnated the register with many minors or foreigners, an agenda which seeks to favour the already dead elephant.

The rank and file of the party, led by H.E. John Dramani Mahama, ought to do something, and the very people tasked with the party’s election-related matters should also act without rancour.

The figures projected by the EC look very suspicious and must be investigated for Jean Mensa to rethink and do the needful.

My sanctimonious advice to Jean Mensa is to tread cautiously because any attempt to rig the elections would be a recipe for chaos.

The posture of the EC and her paymasters gives credence to the idea that they are ready to jeopardize the peace, tranquillity, and stability the country is enjoying.

Akufo Addo and his “Jezebel,” due to their selfish and parochial interests, are on a perilous path to disregard the words of Ghanaians calling for change.

The silent nature of the peace council, especially regarding the utterances of Akufo Addo that he’s not going to hand over power to John Mahama, leaves much to be desired.

The peace council should not sit down unconcerned and wait till the election to commence preaching peace when millions of Ghanaians are ready to resist the oppressors’ rule.

The best admonition they can possibly impart to the EC now is to call Jean Mensa to order and give her proper advice to ensure that her actions and indications do not mar the peace we are enjoying in the country.

Ghanaians are not ready and prepared to trade the peace and stability they are enjoying for violence, chaos, and anarchy.

We, the good people of Ghana, want Jean Mensa and her paymasters to be reminded that the power they are enjoying today stems from the good people of this country and that the people deserve some modicum of respect and decency. Let Jean Mensa and her paymasters be reminded once again that power will always change hands no matter how long it takes, so they should be very careful with the way and manner they are toying with Ghanaians.

The NDC wants to remind Jean Mensa that Ghanaians are not ready to give away the democratic governance of the rule of law to the rule of men. The discerning Ghanaians are ready to END THE EIGHT.

No amount of intimidation and machinations will prevent the good people of this country from coming out in their numbers come December 2024 to vote massively for the NDC and His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the incoming president of Ghana. Jean Mensa must be advised to do the needful and tread cautiously. A word to the wise is in the Assin North.
