The Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, has heavily criticized the leadership of the Majority caucus, accusing them of failing to marshal their numbers to conduct parliamentary business.
The NDC MP on Thursday, June 13, 2024, confronted the Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin over the low attendance of MPs when the business of the House commenced. At the start of the session at 5 pm, there were only seven (7) Majority MPs and thirty (30) Minority MPs present.

A frustrated Murtala Mohammed lamented that most members from the Majority have abandoned parliamentary business for campaign tours with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, since the House resumed from recess on Tuesday.
He rebuked the Majority Leader for failing to ensure that members of his caucus were present in Parliament to conduct business on behalf of their constituents.
“… My point has to do with the unseriousness of the team he leads. There are only seven Majority MPs present; yesterday there were just five. Now you think that it is important for us to discuss this matter. You are a leader of government business; what should be of concern to you is to ensure your members are in the House.”

“I came here at 8 am, your members are still not here at 5:50 pm. They are following your presidential candidate, dancing Azonto, and saying, ‘Give me the steer.’ If you want us to take you seriously, then have control over the people that you lead.” he said.
