Asante Gold Corporation offers 53 needy tertiary students scholarship

The Chirano Gold Mines Ltd, Asante Gold Company, has offered scholarships to 53 needy tertiary students drawn from the company’s 20 catchment communities.

This is the third offer the company in collaboration with the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation and the Chirano General Manager’s scholarship was giving tertiary students from the company’s catchment areas.

Mr Stephen Asante Yamoah, the General Manager of the corporation, presenting the scholarship awards to the beneficiary students, said the scholarship was a giant step towards a brighter future for deserving needy but brilliant students from the company’s catchment communities.

“Since 2020, Chirano Gold Mines Limited has been committed to supporting the educational aspirations of talented and deserving individuals from 20 catchment communities, through the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation and the Chirano General Manager’s scholarships, we have already provided higher education opportunities to 54 needy brilliant students at the tertiary level,” he said.

According to the General manager, the company had spent about GHC 800,000 on the beneficiaries so far and the scholarships reaffirmed the commitment of Gold Mines Limited to education and community development.

Mr Asante Yamoah was particularly excited in the company’s partnership with Prof Stephen Adei, in rolling out a literacy programme for basic school pupils in the company’s catchment communities.

The General manager lauded the Board Members and the Executive Chairman of the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation for their stewardship, dedication and energy in making the scholarship and other community development programmes under the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation possible.

He asked the beneficiary students to “embrace the opportunity with gratitude, use it with determination, and let it be the guiding light that leads them towards their dreams.”

“Let your journey be guided by passion, curiosity, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Remember, you are not just recipients of a scholarship, you are ambassadors of hope, inspiration and change in your communities,” he emphasized.

Miss Eunice Addae Donkor, a level 200 Petroleum Engineering student at the University of Mines and Technology (UMAT), on behalf of the awardees, thanked the company for its support, stressing that it would help make an impact in their academic journey.

She on behalf of her colleagues promised to take their studies seriously so as to make a name for themselves and justify the investments made in them.

Mr Emmanuel Frimpong, Deputy Director in charge of Finance and Administration, and Bibiani Anwhiaso Bekwai, Education Directorate on behalf of the Education Director, expressed gratitude to the company for their continuous support in improving education in the area.

He advised the beneficiary students to be examples of change and justify the investments in them to be useful to themselves and society at large.
