Ghana is mourning the loss of Kwabena Kwakye, affectionately known as Wofa KK, a popular broadcaster at Kencity Media’s Oman 107.1FM. The sudden and tragic demise occurred when he fell ill when he reported for work today.
Sources say he collapsed at the tail end of the morning show, Oman National Agenda, in which he was engaged extensively on a wide range of issues.
Wofa KK was a revered figure in radio and was associated with Oman FM’s popular shows like “Boiling Point” and “National Agenda,” often stepping in for the regular hosts.
Prior to his time at Oman FM, he worked at Adom 106.3 FM, a subsidiary of the Multimedia Group Limited.
His extensive career also included roles as a Parliamentary and Presidential correspondent for Net2 TV.
Wofa KK played a pivotal role in supporting the owner of the station who also doubles as the Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyepong during his presidential candidacy bid within the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), although the campaign ultimately faced defeat against Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
When President Akufo-Addo assumed the reins of power in 2017, his expertise was recognized with an appointment to the Board of the Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC).
Tributes have began pouring onto social media in memory of the demise of the late Oman FM broadcaster.
