In a distressing incident, the North East regional coordinator for Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, one of the flagbearer hopefuls for the NPP, has been subjected to an attack.
Ali Zakaria, the victim, reported that he was brutally beaten after he questioned certain voters who had lifted their ballot papers in full view of the delegates after casting their votes.
Zakaria recounted to Accra-based Joy News that unidentified delegates assaulted him, causing injuries including a swollen eye and facial bruises. Following the assault, he was admitted to the Regional hospital for medical care.
The ongoing NPP presidential aspirant selection process involves 958 delegates from across the nation who are tasked with choosing five out of ten candidates for the Party’s upcoming presidential primary scheduled for November 4, 2023.
The order in which the ten presidential aspirants will appear on the ballot paper is as follows: Mr Kennedy Agyapong, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Mr. Joe Ghartey, Mr. Kwadwo Poku, and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto. The remaining candidates are Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Francis Addai Nimoh, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Mr. Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko, and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
