Eight (8) persons are feared dead in a gory accident on the Kasoa-Cape Coast highway.
The accident which happened in the early hours of Saturday, August 26, 2023, involved a DAF cargo truck with registration number AS 8740 S and a Hyundai H100 commercial vehicle also with registration number GN 4475-19 in the Gomoa Potsin area on the highway.
The accident has left several individuals in critical condition and battling for their dear lives.
According to eyewitness accounts, the cargo truck was en route from Accra to Winneba, while the trotro vehicle was travelling from Afransi to Kasoa. The passengers in the commercial vehicle numbering 19 were said to be on their way to attend a funeral at Nungua.
The accident was triggered when a saloon car, engaged in a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre, veered into the path of both vehicles. This reckless action disrupted traffic flow and ultimately led to the collision.
Eyewitnesses further explained that the cargo truck was travelling at high speed and could not regain control after the saloon car cut across its path.
Meanwhile, those who sustained minor injuries are currently undergoing medical treatment at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.
