Chaos erupts at Ashanti Region voting centre as Youth Organizer publicly displays ballot

Chaos erupted at a polling centre in the Ashanti region during the NPP’s Super Delegates Conference election, as Raphael Sarfo Patrick, the Regional Youth Organizer, openly displayed his cast ballot.

The ballot, in support of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, incited protests from polling agents, temporarily halting the voting process.

Intervention from law enforcement and electoral commission officials was necessary to address the situation. Consequently, the exposed ballot was invalidated, and the delegate was swiftly removed from the centre.

The party, in an earlier communique, cautioned delegates against revealing their ballots after voting.

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Super Delegates Congress is currently in progress nationwide. The party aims to reduce the pool of aspirants from 10 to 5 in preparation for the upcoming congress scheduled for November of this year.

The top five aspirants securing the highest number of votes will progress to the party’s primaries in November.
