SEDA Africa Group, a consortium of renowned Czech technology brands operating in African markets, has officially launched a testing phase for a small-scale water treatment unit in Kade, Ghana.
This pilot project aims to address the issue of heavy metal pollution resulting from illegal mining activities, particularly in the Birim River, the primary water source for the treatment plant.
SEDA Africa Group’s initiative is supported by the Czech Republic Embassy in Accra and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. The project garnered considerable attention during the initial testing phase, which proceeded smoothly without any complications. Representatives from SEDA Africa Group, the CSIR Water Research Institute, community leaders, and the council of elders attended the testing, signalling strong collaboration between stakeholders.
The testing phase is expected to continue for approximately 14 days to ensure optimal performance and desired outcomes. The objective is to showcase Hutira’s cutting-edge technology and expertise from a team of Czech specialists, demonstrating that Ghana and other West African countries can achieve independent sources of potable water from virtually any location and water source.
Beyond water treatment, the project will also highlight innovative storage solutions for potable water using specially designed tanks made from a former NASA patent material. These tanks are capable of withstanding various outdoor conditions, effectively preserving the quality of the liquid or raw materials inside for several years. Additionally, a trial water dispenser will be installed on the streets, enabling people to access chilled drinking water at any time using their own containers. This concept has already been successfully implemented in cities such as Cyprus.
Martin Habart, CEO of SEDA Africa Group, expressed his gratitude for the support provided by the Czech Republic Embassy in Accra and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, emphasizing the significance of the water treatment project in Kade.
“The water treatment project in Kade is important in providing clean and safe water to the local community. We are grateful for the support of the Czech Republic Embassy in Accra and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in making this project possible.”
