Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a flagbearer hopeful of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly denounced the assault on his campaign coordinator, Ali Zakaria, in the North East region.
Kyerematen expressed his disapproval during a visit to Zakaria at the hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
Ali Zakaria was reportedly attacked by supporters of another flagbearer aspirant, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, after attempting to prevent a delegate from publicly displaying a cast ballot.
Kyerematen, who placed third in the conference, warned that this should be the last attack on any member of his team.
“I am not going to tolerate this kind of behaviour. It doesn’t make sense and when we cannot conduct ourselves as a family trying to select a leader in a peaceful and organised manner, how do we intend to be able to do the same kind of process when we have 200,000 plus people gathered?”
“Frankly, I am very disturbed about what has happened. The party must not put a shine on what has happened.”
Taking to his social media handle, he also called on his supporters to remain calm in the face of provocation.
