Dr Ahmed devoted more than three decades of his life to Radio Univers, beginning his career as a student journalist and rising through the ranks to become Station Manager of the non-commercial, campus-based radio station of the University of Ghana. He is regarded as the longest-serving staff member in the station’s history.

His tenure was characterised by discipline, mentorship and a strong commitment to excellence in campus broadcasting. Beyond the university environment, Dr Ahmed played a key role in shaping Ghana’s media landscape, training and mentoring generations of journalists who have gone on to excel both locally and internationally.

Although he stepped down from active management in 2025, Dr Ahmed remained an influential figure within the Radio Univers community, offering guidance and serving as a source of institutional memory for young broadcasters.
