Bawumia Pledges Stronger Private Sector Partnerships If Elected President in December Polls

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has his commitment to strengthening partnerships with the private sector if elected in the upcoming December polls.

Addressing business leaders at the 2024 Ghana CEO-Presidential Gala Dinner, Dr Bawumia stressed the essential role of private-sector collaboration in driving Ghana’s economic recovery and fostering sustainable growth.

“Government cannot drive economic growth in isolation; it must be in close collaboration with the private sector,” Bawumia stated.

His remarks resonated with the event’s theme: “Reigniting the Business Economy and Social Contract for Growth: A Business Manifesto for Political Accountability and Sustainable Development.”

Organized by the Chief Executives Network Ghana, the gala brought together prominent figures from the business and political spheres to discuss an enhanced social contract.

Ernest De-Graft Egyir, CEO of the Chief Executives Network Ghana, described the event as “a platform for transformative change” and called for a unified vision for Ghana’s future.

He noted the importance of transparency and ethical practices.

“Tonight, we aim to forge a social contract rooted in trust, transparency, and a shared commitment to building an environment where businesses thrive and governance is accountable,” he said.

In a historic moment during the gala, Dr. Bawumia and National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama signed a symbolic social contract, committing to principles that prioritize economic stability, business growth, and inclusive development.

Dr. Bawumia, in his keynote address, presented a roadmap for economic resilience, digital transformation, and infrastructure development.

He also outlined plans to revitalize Ghana’s business landscape, citing digital transformation as a key to economic empowerment and improved accountability.

“Every policy and program we pursue must be directed at enabling businesses to succeed,” Bawumia asserted.

“We will establish a permanent advisory framework that ensures the voice of the business community shapes policymaking.”
