Thousands of Ghanaians have poured onto the streets of Accra in protest against the sale of Labadi Beach, La Palm and two other hotels to Rock City Hotel Limited, which is owned by Ghana’s Minister of Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong.
The street protest which is led by the North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is aimed at piling pressure on President Akufo-Addo to halt the sale of these hotels.
Mr Ablakwa has already petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate the transaction.
However, he stated that he feels compelled to take this additional step because, despite widespread opposition, information he has obtained indicates that the process to finalize the deal is still ongoing.
