The Ministry of Health has announced the temporary closure of the Nursing Training College at Techiman Krobo in the Bono East Region following persistent unrest and breaches of the institution’s rules and regulations by some students.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, and signed by Tony Goodman, Head of Health Training Institutions, on behalf of the Ministry of Health, the closure takes immediate effect and will remain in force until further notice.
According to the Ministry, the decision was taken after several attempts to restore calm through dialogue, counselling and engagements with stakeholders, including the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), failed to resolve the situation.
The Ministry stated that despite these interventions, some students continued to engage in conduct that disrupted academic activities and posed a threat to peace, safety and the orderly administration of the college.
It noted that the temporary closure is intended to restore calm, safeguard lives and property, and allow the appropriate authorities to assess the situation and determine the necessary steps towards reopening the institution under conducive conditions.
As part of the directive, all students have been instructed to vacate the campus peacefully and return to their respective homes by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Parents and guardians have also been advised to make the necessary arrangements for their wards.
The Ministry assured students, staff, parents and other stakeholders that every effort would be made to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. It added that information regarding the reopening of the college would be communicated through official channels in due course.
The Ministry further appealed for the understanding, cooperation and support of all stakeholders as it works to restore a safe, peaceful and disciplined learning environment at the institution.
