Burkina Faso Terrorist Killings: Ntim Fordjour Slams Gov’t Response, Demands Urgent Action

The Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, has condemned the killing of Ghanaian traders in Burkina Faso, describing the incident as a “horrific terrorist attack.”

In a post on his social media handles, the Assin South MP, while extending “sincere condolences to the bereaved families”, called for an urgent and coordinated government response.

According to him, the terror attack exposes gaps in Ghana’s response mechanisms for protecting citizens outside the country.

“Ghanaians deserve a coordinated government response which must include pragmatic consular engagement, survivor support, and the dignified identification and repatriation of remains,” Rev Ntim Fordjour stressed.

While acknowledging the travel advisory issued by the government, the Ranking Member described it as belated, insisting that it falls far short of what is required under the circumstances.

“Beyond the Travel Advisory belatedly issued, further measures that are imperative for immediate activation include joint intelligence sharing, corridor threat mapping, safe passage arrangements and effective consular-security liaison structures.”

“We demand answers, we demand action, and we insist that Ghana protects its citizens whether at home or beyond our borders.”

His comments follow the deaths of seven Ghanaian tomato traders who were reportedly attacked by terrorists in Titao, a town in northern Burkina Faso, on February 14, 2026.

The victims were travelling in a truck when the attack occurred.

According to the Interior Minister, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, ten men, including the driver, and eight women were on board the vehicle.

Seven of the men were killed, while three sustained serious injuries. Some of the women were also affected but did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
