The Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Edem Kofi Kpotosu, ushered in the New Year with an inspiring act of compassion, choosing service to humanity over fanfare and ceremony. On Thursday, 1st January 2026, the MP paid a heartfelt visit to the Ho Municipal Hospital and the Children’s Ward of the Ho Teaching Hospital, accompanied by some constituency executives of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The visit, described by many as timely and touching, went beyond a routine New Year’s courtesy call. It was a moment marked by empathy, encouragement, and shared humanity.
Edem Kpotosu spent quality time interacting with children on admission, sharing lunch with them and offering words of comfort and hope to both the young patients and their families.
As part of the visit, the MP presented assorted essential items, including toiletries, bottled water, drinks, and packed meals. The gesture was aimed at easing the burden on families and putting smiles on the faces of the children, reassuring them that they are valued, remembered, and loved.
In a strong demonstration of appreciation for frontline workers, Hon. Kpotosu also extended the gesture to health professionals who sacrificed their New Year’s Day to care for the sick. Lunch packs were presented to doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff in recognition of their dedication, resilience, and selfless commitment to duty.
The benevolence of the MP further reached caregivers, parents and guardians who remain at the bedside of their loved ones during trying moments. By including them, the MP acknowledged the emotional and physical toll caregiving takes, especially during festive periods.
Speaking through his actions, the Ho Central legislator sent a powerful message that leadership is rooted in compassion and presence. His New Year outreach underscored the belief that governance is not only about policies and debates, but also about standing with people in their most vulnerable moments.
The visit has been widely applauded by hospital authorities, staff, patients, and residents, who described it as a meaningful start to 2026 and a true demonstration of people-centred leadership.
